A feature in Somerset Memories Magazines

I received a beautiful copy of Somerset Memories magazine in my mailbox.  This is their Autumn 2014 Artistic Scrapbooking & More issue.  One of my projects is featured on page 76.  I created a mixed media canvas of Ashton at the Lake.

After paging through this magazine, worthy of a "coffee table book" I am so inspired to create beautiful artistic keepsakes of our family - but the real bonus was discovering beautifully designed Artists Paper in the back! Wow - tear out sheets for me to use!  I am in love :)

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity Somerset Memories

Vote for these Bistro Chic Chairs

When Krylon issued a challenge to crafters to "Make it Yours with Krylon" I knew exactly what I wanted to create with my Krylon® spray paint. My Mom and I were shopping at garage sales a few years ago when we stumbled upon these metal folding chairs.  They are black with limey greeny vinyl seats.  Fabulous was not a word I would use to describe them but they were sturdy and definitely filled a purpose for overflow seating.

With Krylon's Spray Paint the transformation from bleh to Gorgeous was super quick and easy.  The hardest part was deciding if I want to use one color on all the chairs or go for a fun assortment.  There was no way I could choose one so an assortment of colors it was!

This how they turned out after a splash of beautiful trendy colors.  Ashton, my oldest daughter, was so pleased them that she claimed these two for herself. Alexandra got to choose her own colors for her two chairs!

This is a contest amongst other crafters so I would love your vote if you love my little project.  Please  click on the link below to Vote and to see the other projects.

Bistro Chic Chairs

I am so inspired to repurpose and create.  Hope you are too!!!

Offering Sympathy with Grace

During times of sorrow many find comfort knowing that they are thought of.   For me, words of comfort are sometimes so hard to come by.  This beautiful sentiment sympathy stamp set has so many sayings of encouragement.  My hope that in presenting a handmade card from the heart will offer the recipient a tiny form of condolence during their time of grief.

I used several JustRite Papercraft products on this card.

I stamped the background stamp in a deep dark purple onto a slight purple cardstock.  After coloring in the stamped design with a light purple Copic marker I added highlights with Spectrum Noir pencils.

The beautiful intricate label is a custom JustRite die template from Spellbinders.  I created the layers by adding adhesive foam squares to the outer label

There are beautiful samples using these products and others on the JustRite Team's blogs

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope your day is filled with things that bring you joy.

Pretty in Pink Birthday Card

With two little girls in the house there is always a demand for pretty pink birthday cards.  Once I have my color palette established my cards come together quickly using beautiful stamps and embossing folders

Lets start with the tag die and stamp set.   These are all part of JustRite Papercraft's newest releases:

JustRite's custom die set were designed to perfectly coordinate with the stamps

The paper, embossing folder, ink and twine are all part of Spellbinders brand new Celebra'tions Line!

To make my card I inked up the embossing folder and adhered it to the front of my card base.  I stamped the flowers and leaves twice and colored them with Copic markers and used Spectrum Noir pencils to create depth and detail.  Each of the flowers and leaf sets were fussy cut and adhered to the die label.

The JustRite team have all put together a variety of samples using a combination of these products

I hear squeals of laughter outside, the girls have friends over.  I think I may just find a little time to spend creating something for tomorrow ;)

I colored the images with Copic markers and added details with Spectrum Noir Pencils.  I made a shaped card base using Spellbinders Reflective Moments die set.

{It is Tuesday Tutorial Giveaway time too!}

Fun Stampers Journey Birthday Gift Bag

Pink, Black and White remains one of those classic, timeless color combinations.  Rose, a good friend of mine, issued a challenge on Facebook for Fun Stampers Journey Coaches and Guests to create a card using Pink & Black.  Sometimes I just can't help myself once the creativity mojo kicks in and ended up bending the rules slightly by creating a gift bag (not a card) and adding in white with a little yellow and orange (for the flame).   Here are the details on how I put it all together...

This gift bag is a mini - only measuring 4 x 5 x 2".  I purchase them in bulk, usually sets of 5 or so at craft or office supply stores.  I like the size of this one because it's the perfect proportion for my birthday cake stamp.

1. Stamp cake image from To You stamp set onto Whip Cream cardstock.  Stamp birthday sentiment Little BIG Greetings underneath.  I used Black Licorice True Color Fusion ink.
2. I used Copic markers to color my cake.

True Color Fusion ink is a combination of die and pigment ink.  This gives you incredibly rich looking fine art stamped colors that look like pigment ink but dry like dye.  Because of the combination I quickly heat set my image before coloring it with my Copics.

3.  Trim the sides and bottom to resemble a banner.  Make sure the length of the banner fits the length of the bag ;)
4. Pierce holes a long the edges and sew a border using colorful thread

Journey Glaze is one of those products that I simply CANNOT live without.  Use it to add dimension to a project or as an adhesive.  It is a combination of a Glaze and a Resin!  It dries crystal clear and is self beveling.  I applied a few drops over my entire cake image - a little goes a long way.   Add it on thickly for a raised bevelled look or spread it out thinly for a shiny glazed look.  (see no running on the second image - LOVE) Either way it's going to be stunning!  Promise :)  I left mine to dry for about 15min.

{Stamping Chevron}

Love the look of Chevron and Fun Stampers Journey has a gorgeous background stamp called Chevron Trail.  I stamped the image using Black Licorice ink onto Whip Cream cardstock.  Trimmed the piece to fit the front of my gift bag.

All thats left to do is adhere the banner after I added the pearls to the almost dry Journey Glaze.  Then  I finished this baby off with a pretty bow and tissue paper!

A Christmas Card with 1 Stamp & 1 Die Set

It is fun to pile the goodies onto a project when you have them however, there are days when time (& budget) dictate a card that brings on the wow with only a few supplies.  For today's card I used 1 stamp set from JustRite Papercraft and 1 die set from Spellbinders.  If you don't have the die you can always substitute it for a rectangular one that you have or create a simple rectangular card from cardstock.

The JustrRite stamp set is part of a series of new releases this July.  The set is called:

I colored the Christmas images in with Copic Markers and added highlights with Spectrum Noir Pencils.  The Spellbinders die template is Labels Twenty Nine

There is ton's more inspiration from the JustRite Team...

Thanks for joining me today!

Classical Christmas Card and Tag

The classic look of black & white ribbon against contrasting holiday colors forms the foundation for both of my projects.   I used Kraft cardstock for the neutral background making my stamped and colored images the focal point.

Both the stamp sets are new releases from JustRite Paper Craft.

I colored both images with Copic markers and highlighted areas with Spectrum Noir pencils.   The Bells of Christmas image was die cut with Vintage Labels Two Dies.

Once again the Designers over at JustRite Papercraft have all provided beautiful samples for additional inspiration!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. It's Monday and I hope this beautiful morning is a sign of an even more beautiful week.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

I love assembling little scenes using a variety of stamps.  For this twinkling card I used two stamps sets and carefully layered and pieced together various elements to achieve my glowing Christmas eve look.

I started off with my background stamp which I inked up using two tones of blue.  I created an oval mask for the glowing light, which left me a blank area to color with my Copics.

I used the oval stamp to create my mask for the lamp glow.  To make my street lamp more dimensional I stamped it on my card front and once again on another piece of cardstock which I fussy cut and adhered with foam adhesive squares.  I filled in the glowing area and glass of the lamp with a glaze and added some glitter for sparkle.

That pretty little tag is a custom die template from JustRite Papercraft called:

and those glowing gold gems are from Want 2 Scrap.

Once again the ladies over at JustRite have put together such pretty samples to choose from - I particularly like the signs with snow on them!

I will be back soon with more JustRite goodies. Thanks for stopping by and cheers to a crafty weekend!

Fun Stampers Journey: Thank You Tagged Pocket Card

I am excited to share with you all that I have joined a brand new company, embarking on a very adventurous and super creative journey.  Fun Stampers Journey is a direct sales company and I am an official founding coach! Eeek :)  I will let you all know more about that later in my next post but for now I want to share my very first project using FSJ stamps, die cuts, adhesives, cardstock and the most amazing and delicious Journey Glaze!!!

Thank You Tagged Pocket Card

Please visit Fun Stampers Journey's Website to view these and other products from the Catalog

I created a pocket card using the Tagged Pocket Die from Fun Stampers Journey.  This is a great way to add a personal, removable note, gift card or money

Cardstock: Whip Cream  Die Template: Tagged Pocket

1. Position a section of Whip Cream cardstock over the die
2.  Cut & emboss the Tagged Pocket using FSJ Tagged Pocket Die
3. Fold both tabs along scored lines on either side to form the pocket

Cardstock: Whip Cream  Stamp: Summer Garden Ink: Black Licorice

1. Stamp the Summer Garden image using Black Licorice ink onto Whip Cream cardstock
2. Color one image using Copic markers
3. Color only the flower on the second image
4. Fussy cut both images

1. Stamp Hexagon Print onto Summer Days cardstock using Pineapple Smoothie ink
2. Trim to create front and inside panel of Tagged Pocket
3.  Adhere the Hexagon panels to the front and inside of the card using White Liner adhesive
4.  Adhere Journey Twine Natural to the pocket panel
5. Adhere the fussy cut Summer Garden flower to the pocket panel
6.  Use a foam adhesive square to pop the second flower onto the main image.
7. Create a shiny dimensional accent by applying Journey Glaze to the flower.
8.  Stamp sentiment from Summer Garden using Pineapple Smoothie ink onto Whip Cream cardstock
9.  Mat panel onto Lemon Grass cardstock background
10. Finish by punching a hole in the top of the tag and tying a decorative bow.
