A Firetruck card for JT

Our little friend JT is turning 3 and will be celebrating his Birthday at the Firehouse! I decided to stick with the Fireman theme and created a Firetruck Card for him. Thanks to the Fire Station at Wash Park, Denver for letting me take pictures - you guys are really great!

Oh Yeah Layout

I made this layout for a GDT spot at Create My Keepsake - I love that site - the designers are super talented and you can also see a lot of my work in their member gallery. The Journaling reads: You were quite happy just finding eggs for your Easter basket - but then we told you to look inside each egg - BINGO.

A little Card for my Sister

It's my Sister's birthday later in March and I made this little card (4x4) for her. We are very close and she is really the best Sister anyone could ever wish for - she is kind, very generous and has a wicked sense of humor. Seeing each other just once a year is hard but that comes with the territory when we live a kazzilion miles away from each other. Thank goodness for Skype and Email!

Welcome Babies Card (A card for the Birth of Twins)

I took this picture of giraffe siblings at the Denver Zoo yesterday. I thought it would make a perfect Twins card. Anyone expecting twins soon?

Thanks Melissa {Heart & Soul}

I just received my RAK from Melissa and it is gorgeous. So many goodies (that I don't have) to create so many new cards/layouts. What a great way to start an otherwise uneventful Wednesday. Thank you so much Melissa for all the wonderful embellies, rubons, oh my goodness - just too much to mention. Your blog is great and so are you!

Pumpkin Patch Party

This card was made using a sketch from CPS (#52) and using paper from waaaaay back when.

Sugar & Spice Layout

I attend a little Mommy Playgroup and this month my friend Annie had a Valentine Party at her house. These pictures are of Alex and Ashton and two other precious little girls. The best title to describe all four of them is: Sugar & Spice (and all things nice). Hope your Monday is Gorgeous!

Snowflake Card

I was experimenting with different cuts on the Cricut machine. This one is a snowflake that I made into a shaped card.

My Husband the Cardmaker

While I was a way Kev decided to make me a card. He went into my scrap area and found some of my paper and rub-ons. I love my card - Ashton wrote her name and drew a flower and a heart and Alex also scribbled her name. The wording inside is so sweet ...it was a beautiful surprise to come home to - everything is perfect BUT seriously next time I think I will put "special" paper and stickers aside for the girls and Daddy to use to make any impromptu card making projects because the idea of Kev and the girls having free reign amongst my stuff is kinda scary! Luckily this card turned out to be priceless - worth more to me than any paper or stickers I own.

{Major Prize Winner}

Attending the Ellen Show was amazing. It is non-stop energy from start to finish. Since it was the Valentine show the whole audience got beautiful silver pendants on a chain and THEN I was picked to play a game and WON a trip to HAWAII. Yep these are the pictures of the prize which includes airfare and accommodation at the Waikiki Parc Hotel. I am so super excited that I actually cannot believe how awesome this whole experience was...so now I need to calm down to a major panic and try and settle down and get creative again. Yay!!! Waikiki - OMG - seriously - Waikiki!!!

A visit to Ellen

I will not be posting any projects over the next few days as my good friend, Lisa, and I are flying to California to attend a taping of the Ellen Show. I do love watching the fun she has and her wit and humor is undeniable. Kev has taken a few days off work to be with the girls so that Lisa and I can do the Thelma and Louise thing (every thing but drive off a cliff, and have a fling with Brad Pitt, I guess). The producers wanted us to bring a bad picture of ourselves - since I delete them as soon as I see them I decided to make Ellen a Valentine card instead. I based the design of this card on CPS sketch #51. Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines day. Will check in on Friday to let you all know how much fun we had!

I was so excited to get my mail today. Waiting for me was a package from Bety (Iralamija). She sent me the most unbelievable stash of paper, cards, ribbon, embellies and clear stamps. This awesome prize was for winning her Card Challenge that she hosted on her blog. Thanks so much Bety - keep watching this space for postings of projects made with all my stuff!

This is one of my simpler layouts. It was my first time working with chipboard (flowers) and I think I like the stuff. I have worked with it a bit more since then but I think the old adage rings true: Practice makes perfect. We had a lovely weekend and now the week is upon us. Both girls have their Valentine Parties at school this week so we will be busy. Have a lovely Monday.

RAK, Cartridge & LOTD Oh My!

So I am having a GREAT Saturday. First of all Melissa {heart & soul} is sending me a RAK from her blog - and boy am I excited to receive it because her stuff is such eye/scrap candy it is ridiculous! Then I also got LOTD on Create My Keepsake. There is so much serious talent on that site that I am totally flattered. Whooo hooo. After all that excitement I picked up my mail and my brand new cartridge arrived from Hallmark Scrapbook and Regina's BBTB challenge. Whew! Think I might go and buy myself that lotto ticket now.

Adult Swim Time

Sometimes a picture captures the exact feeling of the moment..in this case Ashton was not experiencing the utmost of glee at having to sit and wait. She was just starting to understand that when the lifeguard blew the whistle for Adult Swim Time it meant that she had to get out the pool, sit and wait. Sit and wait for a whole 15 minutes. The longest 15 minutes of a two year olds life! Journaling Reads: "I know it must be pretty hard for you to understand, at age Two, why we need Adult Swim Time, but I have to admit you sure are trying to learn how to be patient about it"

For the Teachers we Love

These little baggies are filled with Dove heart chocolates. I made one for each of the girl's teachers. I think I am done with all my Valentine tasks..so maybe this afternoon I will work on a non-Valentine layout, maybe...

Something Different

Ashton and I wanted to do a craft together but needed to come up with something different so we made these Valentine Placemats. Her involvement: We dipped her fingers in ink and printed little "fingerprint" hearts to form the petals of the flowers. I trimmed them out and attached them to silk flowers/primas - finished it off with some printed b/w pictures of her and her signed name. We had them color copied at a local copy center and they laminatated each copy too. A super easy to clean project that is really inexpensive and easy to make. Grandpa and Grandma - yours are at the p/office today!

Alex and her Grampie

We spent October 2007 in South Africa visiting my parents. Granny and Grampie were amazed at how much Ashton had grown and they instantly fell in love with Alex, after meeting her for the first time. One of our outings was visiting a Cheese Farm outside the Magaliesburg. Alex is marveling at a little petting zoo and Grampie is marveling at Alex.

Yes I know Christmas is over...

However, I could not resist making a Holiday Card (in Feb) based on a Card Sketch from CPS. Those little scallops spoke "Jingle-Bells" to me - and I bet you are all wondering about my state of mind this morning if Cards are actually speaking to me? - let's just move right along shall we!... We did wake up to some snow, causing traffic delays and school delays so I am thinking I will drop the girls off and then run a quick Craft errand to "stock-up". Thinking that is exactly what I need to do this morning considering my current state of mind! Have a Super Tuessday x

Another Valentine inspired card..

I made this card based on a sketch on the Card Positioning Systems (CPS) Blog. Just a fun card with a Valentine inspired theme. The pink paper is BoBunny and the black hearts are cut from my Accent Essentials Cartridge (Expression Machine). I think this may have to go to a certain Grandpa & Grandma with some pictures of some favorite Grandkids in it. Before I start my week I just wanted to give a shout out of Congrats to the Giants for winning the S/Bowl!!

A Valentine for Kev

WE WON!!! Bety is holding a challenge on her blog (iralamija.blogspot.com) to make a valentines card using: chipboard, glitter, ribbon, buttons, a heart and a flower - all on ONE card!!! I did some creative juggling on this one. The card is a heart shape (check), the flower is chipboard (check 2) the paper has glitter swirls (check) and then I have ribbon and button accents. Thanks for the Challenge Bety - now Kev's Valentines is made (check)!

Valentines For the Girls

A fun Sunday ahead - who is going to win the Super Bowl? & which will be the Ad we talk about all year? This morning (before) the game I am taking the girls on a playdate to a girlfriends house whose hubby is out of town and then I think I am going to make some of Laura's chilli - yum! Have a "super" Sunday!

A small lesson of appreciation

As I sat watching Ashton at Ballet class this morning I struck up a casual conversation with a Daddy sitting next to me. Turns out that his daughter, one of the cutest, most energetic and charming little girls, is a recipient of a liver transplant. As we watched our girls twirl, skip and jump he told me that after 3 years of health her body has unexpectedly started showing signs of rejecting the liver. He got teary eyed and so did I - we sat there in silence, and in wonder at how beautiful our children are. It was a casual moment of sharing between two parents and turned an ordinary Saturday experience into a small lesson of appreciation. Last night I finished the Valentine party favors for Alex's class. The small class of 7 infants at PDO (Parents Day out Program) will celebrate Valentines Day on February 12. I tied huge bows around clear candied lollipops and tied a little heart tag on each that reads: (Heart) Alex. The next project for this upcoming week is to work on the Teacher's Favors...busy busy busy!

love is in the air...

Valentines month is here and I could not be happier. I love February. Kevin and I got married on Valentines Day (what does not seem like more than a decade ago) and the reminder of love and silliness all month long puts a smile on my face. Some might say that Valentines day is overrated and exploited but I say bring it on. Our family gets into the whole romance of it all - baking, making and sharing. Kev gets to give special cards to his girls (that he picked out himself). He wants them to always have a valentine from the #1 man in their lives (They are so young so he has a while to be #1) and I get TWO cards - one for Valentines Day and one for our Anniversary. To start this month off I made Ashton's preschool class some Valentine favors - all 12 of them get a custom wrapped sweetheart box and the teachers will get something too. I will make Alex's favors this weekend...Watch this space....
