Part of Ashton and Mommy Day today was spent at the mall doing a little shopping. Towards the end of our trip right before lunch Ashton plonked herself on one of the mall relaxation chairs and refused to enter one more store! Good thing too because I could have gone on all day :)!
Project 29 of 365 01.29.09
We attended a Tiny Tots Orchestra concert with Ashton's school and it was great. Alex absolutely loves the classical music instruments and the music but most of all she loves the beautiful Prima ballerinas that put on a performance during the show. Ashton, on the other hand would rather be doing something/anything else...I guess they can't love everything all the time now can they :)

Have the most amazing Friday

Be Inspired by Embellished Scrapbook Shoppe
Part of my design team work for Embellished Scrapbook Shoppe was to make a die-cut or embossed card. I posted a full image of the card and a bit about the it on their blog:

Rose for Bitten by the Bug
The designers at Bitten by the Bug had to work with the Rose cut from the Indie Art Cartridge. This is my version of the cut. You can see more beautiful roses at: Bitten by the Bug

One of my guilty pleasures is having fresh flowers in the house. I can't resist gorgeous spring bouquets in a beautiful vase. It brightens up the whole room. These probably have a day or two left and then it might just be time for new ones ;)

Working on some Card projects. I enjoy my craft time even if it only happens really late at night. It has cut my TV watching time to almost non-existent.

Frigid temperatures here today. Luckily Kev warmed the car for us so that the girls and I could head out for school nice and early while still feeling somewhat warm :)
Have a great Tuesday

1 year Blogoversary *RAK*

I made this card using some of my favorite products including Making Memories, American Crafts and Basic Grey. I think it is rather fitting to post a Happy B*Day card today because..
Blogoversary RAK .
I cannot believe my blog is 1 year old already. Time has certainly gone by quickly because this past year has been so much fun. Thank you to everyone that stops by and leaves me comments and support...I hope we continue along this path of creativity together into our second year :) To celebrate this fun day I am giving away this RAK to one lucky Random winner. All you have to do is leave me a comment under this post. I will select a winner on Friday :)
A big warm Happy 29th Birthday to my Brother, Ty. Hope your day is surrounded by friends and all the good things you enjoy in life. Know that we love you no matter how far the distance between us. Hugs from all of us here in Denver :) .

always a first

This is another card I made for the Scrapbook News & Review article this past October. I love that all these cards have a valentine theme...get's a whole bunch of items checked off my Card-to-do List :)
Project 22 of 365 01.22.09 .
They say there is a first time for everything and that was especially true for Alex today because we had her first dentist appointment. She was not entirely happy being poked and prodded in her mouth but there were thankfully no tears or drama. Overall this was quite a positive experience so we rewarded this milestone with a trip to the Zoo :)
Project 23 of 365 01.23.09 .
When we go grocery shopping once a week it is considered an outing/adventure in our house. We start off by me getting my usual Starbucks (tall-non-fat-mocha-no- whip) and the girls get their special kids Starbucks too (water in a clear cup with a lid and straw). Fuel in hand we head into the store...Alex has her own shopping cart (which I haul from home every week) and Ashton gets to push the big one. We walk up and down isles carefully selecting what goes in who's cart. At the end of the 2 hour experience each one unpacks their cart at the check-out stand explaining their 'purchases' to the cashier. Yes it is a time consuming trip to the grocery store but this is our little weekly ritual and for now - not sure for how long - it is fun for at least two of us ;)

Part of our quieter Saturday afternoon was spent playing Go Fish. Ashton's Grandpa taught her the game this past December. I was surprised at how quickly she picked up the game and how competitive she is (just like her Mama!).
Enjoy your Weekend

A day in History..

This week the Design Team at Bitten By the Bug used the gorgeous Heart cut from the Wedding Cartridge. I just used the blackout feature and embellished it with goodies on my desk. The other Designers works are beautiful. Take a look at BBTB.

I don't recall a time in my life when I had so much hope and optimism for my future as I did on this Election day. I think maybe because my future is not my own anymore but that of my Children. I was very proud to be a part of American history on this day 01.20.09

Wednesday Mornings Ashton and I spend time together while Alex is at school. In our house this day and every other Wednesday has officially become: Ashton & Mommy Day. We go to swim lessons, do a little shopping and have a nice lunch together. These few hours spent one on one with her has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me as a Mom.

Nico is one of Kev's greatest friends. When we lived in South Africa the two of them were inseparable two peas in a pod. Nico was also Kev's best man at our wedding. This picture was taken at Pecanwood Estate, one of the premier golf courses in South Africa, about 4 years ago.
I am tagging our 2S4Y Winter DT: Hanneke, Heidi, Katie, Kristen, Peet & Rae
I cant' believe we are midweek into mid January already. I hope your Wednesday is going just as well.
Have a good one

On the Cover!

Toot! Laura and I are sharing our first Magazine Cover together. Our good friend and former 2 sketches 4 You Designer, Aashild Ruud, is celebrating the 5 year anniversary of her Craft Magazine: Ett trykk and 2S4Y is featured in the Magazine which hits News Stands in Norway on February 1st. The article features sketches and cards that we designed - I can't wait to get my copy!!!! Congrats Aashild on a beautiful issue & this 5 year milestone *hugs*
This week at 2 Sketches 4 You the Design Team worked with die-cut paper designed by Teresa Collins in conjunction with Scor-it. The die-cut cards and matching envelopes come on a single double sided sheet of paper. All you have to do is punch out the card and envelope, score along the designated lines and embellish the way you would like. It is so easy, so user friendly and so much fun! Scor-it is debuting the new Teresa Collins line at CHA in a few days...I can't wait to get my hands on some because I think it is going to be fabulous!

Lazy Day. Kev had the day off today so we all had a lazy day at home. We did a bit of housework, a bit of playing, a bit of crafting and a lot of being lazy. Tomorrow we are back to normal but as for the rest of this day...well nothing planned really :)
Happy Birthday Mama. I hope your day is amazing. I miss you and I love you dearly :)
Have an amazing Monday & Martin Luther King Day
p.s. Don't forget this is the last week to apply for our 2S4Y DT call

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner I thought I would post this card that I made for Scrapbook News & Review this past October. I have another one to share later but right now I am packing up some goodies because I am off to a crop tonight :)
Project 17 of 365 01.17.09
One of the hardest things for me, as a mom of toddlers, is trying to take their picture with them both looking at me, smiling at me and getting the digital camera to click on cue. This picture was one of about 20 that turned out okay only after I made some weird embarrassing noises to attract their attention *click*
Project 18 of 365 01.18.09
Our good friends, Christo & Sonia, came for lunch today and surprised us all with goodies from Santa! The girls were so excited to hear that Santa had left presents for them at yet another location. Needless to say Uncle Christo and Auntie Sonia were Rock Stars for the entire day for remembering to bring the gifts over almost a month later!
Have a great Weekend

School Days...

I made this card for an article in Scrapbook News & Review this past October. I know it is early but I am already thinking Teacher Appreciation and end of the year cards for the girl's Teachers and Aids. With so much to do I guess planning for months in advance can only be a good thing...:)
Project 15 of 365 01.15.09
Ashton came home from Pre-school today with the hugest brightest Rainbow that she had painted. I thought it was lovely and deserved a place of honor in my day so this is my picture for today.
Project 16 of 365 01.16.09
I managed to do some serious paper sorting this afternoon. I have a lot of paper but it was not organized so at least now I can find that extra special color or design I knew I had but could not locate. Next on my to do list: Embellies!
I hope your day is filled with rainbows & sunshine too

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Daddy I hope your day is amazing :) I love you so much and I can't wait t see you soon.
Project 14 of 365 01.14.09
For Ashton and Mommy Day today we met Laura for lunch at one of the yummiest new food spots in Denver called Garbonzos. Ashton and I then headed off to one of our favorite children's boutiques called Chocolate Soup for a little clothes shopping. It was a fun day!

On very rare occasions Kev gets home from work while I am still out running chores - well this evening was one of those nights. When the girls and I walked in the door he had made dinner for all of us and it was Yummy!! It was such an unexpected treat that I will have to think of something extra nice to top this tomorrow night!

Snail Mail and Spring Designers

I loved doing this little project for Regina's Bitten by the Bug Challenge. We had to use the cute little Snail cut from the Cartridge Walk in My Garden. I combined the challenge with the little house from My Community. You can see the other gorgeous creations here: BBTB
2 Sketches 4You DT Call
Today we announced the call for our Spring Design Team at 2 Sketches 4 You. You can find all the details at: 2S4Y.blogspot.com or at 2 Sketches 4 You. Laura and I are very excited to see all your Card designs.
Project 12 of 365 01.12.09
We had an unexpected little accumulation of snow today after the weather reported an inch or two would fall in the morning - well we got a bit more than an inch or two - enough for the girls to make their very own snowlady! I did get some scrapping done too - I actually did a layout for the first time in months - can't wait to share :)
Happy Monday
Thanks for stopping by

Project 365

Project 10 of 365 01.10.09
Our weekend Potty Training venture ended with us raising the white flag in submission. Alex is just not ready! I had to get out the diapers (put away for a friend) while I tried to console myself that the last 48 hours were not in vain but rather a trial run for the day (hopefully soon) that we will in fact be diaper free..on the positive side I get to keep my little Girl a Baby for just a wee bit longer :)
Project 11 of 365 01.11.09
Thank goodness Laura invited us over for dinner tonight because we all needed a change of environment. The girls love spending time with Claudia and want to do EVERYTHING she does - including watching a DVD in the exact same position as her...that little distraction gave Kev and Eric enough time to watch some golf and us girls to enjoy a glass of wine over 2S4Y talk :)
Hugs to you this Sunday Evening

Baby Love

One of Kev's work colleagues just had a baby boy so we are giving the proud parents a gift certificate to help them celebrate. I love the pre-cut gift card holders from ShortCuts: They are easy to fold, decorate and embellish.
Project 8 of 365 01.08.09
Alex and I stopped by Laura's for a quick visit before picking Ashton from School. Laura had her camera ready and Alex would only smile if she was bribed with a cookie. So here is the best of the few super coy pictures... Project 9 of 365 01.09.09
I needed a girls night out tonight like no other. Today I attempted to Potty train Alex and it did not go well - I was mentally and physically exhausted and needed Time Out! Laura and I headed on over to Archivers for a crop and we both managed to get a lot done. It was a super evening that did not involve any begging, pleading or bribing potty talk - thanks LD :)

While I had my head buried in 2S4Y updates today I never heard the doorbell ring, sooo I was pleasantly surprised to find TWO packages waiting at my door for me. The Cards and Scrapbook Trends Goodie boxes arrived and boy were they loaded with tons of goodies. I am so excited to play. Thank you so much Cards & Scrapbook Trends - you guys Rock!

Project 6 of 365
There is a reason today's Project post is late :) I had a ton of laundry to do and almost no time to do it. But here go - my picture for today is a row of neatly steamed shirts ready for Kev's work week! Now if only it were not so late and I could get some crafting done...

Its' Monday

Which means it is sketch time at 2 Sketches 4 You. This week it is my turn to post a sketch which you can find here: 2S4Y and this is the card I made based off of the Sketch: I am so excited about my little Project 1 of 365. The basic outline of the project is to take a picture a day for 1 year. I started this assignment on Jan 1 and have not missed a day yet *lol*...I am off to take a picture #5 so that we can kick off the post bright and early....
Project 5 of 365 01.05.09
My Mom gave me this idea, back in South Africa, to tie a bow around our African Piggies during the Holidays :) On my to-do list today for the girls and I is to take down the Tree and the Piggies get back their dignity minus the bows :)
Thanks to everyone that commented on my Return from the Holiday Post. Looks like most of you all had super Holidays spent with family and those you care about most. The winner of the Hawaiian Nic-Nack RAK is:

Pictures, Toot, Blog Candy & Project 365

Since I have not had an opportunity to create anything yet to post I thought I would share some pictures of our trip to Hawaii with you. One is of Ashton on a Glass Bottom Boat trip with Captain Jeff on the Big Island of Hawaii. The remainder are all at Waikiki. Our view from our room at the Waikiki Parc was just gorgeous and the beaches are equally spectacular with Diamond Head providing a majestic backdrop. It was a fantastic vacation! I was also pleasantly surprised to get a message from our local Archivers to let me know that the latest issue of Scrapbook Trends Oh Baby! had arrived. I have one of my cards in there *yay* and boy was I pleased with this issue - they do such a fab job with the photography and layout of the cards and projects - really awesome stuff.
Hawaiian Blog Candy
One of the things I love most about our beautiful Islands is their Macadamia Nuts and their yummy Kona Coffee. Since I won't be posting anything in the next few days I thought I would giveaway some Hawaiian treats. Please leave a comment here letting me know how you enjoyed your Holidays. I will randomly select a name on Monday to receive this cute tropical Coffee Mug, a jar of Macadamia nuts and a package of Kona coffee (not pictured) soooo stop on by and say hello will ya :)
Project 2 of 365 01.02.09
Today the weather was just glorious with Denver reaching a high of 62'f - which is almost unheard of for this time of year. The girls and I celebrated the warm temperatures by playing in a park nearby. Friends we joined were Dylan, Gavin, Alex, Michael, Kaylee and Cayden. Tomorrow is supposed to bring a Cold Snap...that's Colorado for ya!
Project 3 of 365 01.03.09
We had not seen Garth and Betty since the time around Halloween so we headed over to their house for a delicious dinner (and a glass of red wine)..It is always great to see them and the girls love visiting with them too...
Project 4 of 365 01.04.09
Ashton loves Aunty Laura so it was a special treat for her when I took her along to Panera Bread to meet up with Laura. We needed to finalize a few details for our next Design Team Call at 2S4Y while enjoying cups of Hot Chocolate :)
Hugs Kazan
